According Dr. Katie Gordon:
“We started Jedi Counsel as a way to discuss mental health by engaging people in topics they care about – mostly geeky stuff that we like, such as Star Wars & comics. However, we ended up expanding to include a range of fictional characters. Our website has fake psychological report blog posts on characters ranging from the Big Lebowski to Dwight Schrute to Jessica Jones. Our goal is try to hook people in with stuff they care about and then provide them with accurate, evidence-based information about mental health. We also do ~weekly podcasts.
“We’ve recently covered 2 topics on our podcast that may be a good fit for SPSM: 1) suicidal behavior depicted in the movie, Logan, through the lens of the interpersonal theory of suicide and 2) a series of podcasts discussing the Netflix series, 13 Reasons Why. We’ve recorded 2 so far, and will probably have 2 or so more on the series. Would either or both of these topics be a reasonable fit for an #SPSM show? If you have other ideas in mind, we’d love to hear them!
