SPSM chats, 3/15/15 9pCST about lastest developments in suicide prevention apps. This week SAMHSA released Suicide Safe, a mobile app for clinicians, and SPSMers have been road testing it. We’ll discuss our reviews during the chat.

In other news this week, the Forefront/Facebook suicide app has generated controversy. Similar to consumer controversy that led to the suspension of Samaritan’s Radar, there continues to be controversy about implementation of services on social media that would flag content that appears to indicate a user is at risk of suicide. Concerns appear to be related to lack of consent, violation of privacy, and fears that such tools would be used nefariously to infringe on individual liberties of people who were not at risk. SPSM will discuss these on-going developments.
