Social media may already be saving lives, and tonight you can learn how.
Suicide Prevention Week is coming, and SPSM chatters are asking for your help to save Veterans by using your social media network to help this content reach as many people as possible.
Media efforts to increase Veteran engagement with VA’s Veterans Crisis Line practically doubled the number of calls last year, and may actually have contributed to Veteran suicide rates beginning to drop for the first time in several years (we’ll have to wait on the official numbers to be sure, but the down low is that it’s likely that we’re winning the battle against suicide among our Veterans and media is playing a role).
Tonight’s #SPSM chat (9pm CST) will feature guest expert Jack Benson, the manager behind Reingold’s VA suicide prevention media campaign, which has some great social media elements this year. This is a great chance to ask questions and learn from a leading expert.
The Tweets for this chat will be archived on Storify.
You can read his official bio here.
This is a chance to talk about the nuts and bolts of using social media to prevent suicide and save lives. As always, this chat and expert content will be captured and curated on SPSMchat’s storify account.
In order to make a difference and save lives, SPSM chat needs your help. We asking you to make sure this expertise goes viral by sharing links to this content on your Facebook, professional listservs, Twitter, etc.
Revolutionizing mental health and ending suicide is only limited by the reach of our combined networks.
